DIY Boutonniere: Step by Step How to Guide Yellow Rose + Wax Flower Boutonniere Wedding Flowers

For the DIY Bride, this video is a great resource for how to make boutonnieres yourself.  Boutonnieres for multiple members of your wedding party can add up cost-wise, but they can be easily done yourself a day before the wedding and kept in the fridge. (make sure you have space in your refrigerator if you attempt any DIY flowers like corsages and boutonnieres as these items don’t have a water supply without the little green tubes.

This video from Blooms by the Box, a reputable online wholesale florist popular amongst DIY Brides, shows all the steps to making a rose boutonniere yourself. Roses are ideal for DIY boutonnieres because they are so hardy.

I like how this rose is more open and fuller than other Boutonnieres that are often closer bud stage

Blooms by the Box shows how to do this boutonniere with a yellow rose, but they have an impressive array of rose colors and shades available and wedding supplies needed to do your own wedding flowers.

    Classic Dome Shaped Round Bouquet

As with any DIY wedding project, there are many things you CAN do, but make sure you (or a trusted friend or relative) will have enough time in the day or two before the wedding to do the project.

    • classic dome shape round bouquet requires 30 – 60 stems for a bridal bouquet, 20 – 40 for a bridesmaid bouquet
    • takes about 30 – 60 minutes to make
    • Can be done with flowers other than roses, but make sure they are hardy
    • can be done a day or two in advance if proper care of flowers are taken

This page also has how to make a simple centerpiece, how to make boutonnieres, and has videos to watch.

As a side note, I’ve used JR Roses for several occasions, I am especially impressed by their wholesale large calla lilies and tropical flowers, and there fundraising bouquets are always in excellent condition.  I haven’t gotten any bad flowers or damaged flowers with brown or torn petals from them yet.

There are a few popular online wholesale florists online that are frequently used by brides to be, but JRRoses is pretty much the only online wholesale florist that I personally recommend for DIY floral wedding projects. The flowers look healthy and are large.

I also find the staff to be especially helpful. When my Grandmother was sick in the hospital and I ordered late in the day, they rush expedited the order for me, and personally emailed me a very nice note that they wished her well and hope she felt better, I thought that was a really nice touch for an online vendor.
