DIY Bride metal look marque letters

Saw a fun DIY idea on Pinterest, posted by a blogger who originally did it for home decor but it could make for nice DIY wedding reception decoration.
This ingenious blogger saw the $18 zinc letters at , also seen them at stores like Pottery Barn and restoration hardware, and she got the idea to get the $2.99 paper mache letters at Joann.com and some metallic paint & do it herself. I love the results of her two tone gold letters and then thought this would be a great way to DIY wedding reception marque initial decorations. Note her instructions on doing the paint in layers to get the nice uneven affect.
So JoAnn fabrics has paper mache letters for $2.99, and wood letters for $2.99 to $4.99
- Paper mache Ampersand $4.99 (smaller sizes $2.99 – this one is 12 x 1.5 inch)
- 12″ inch letters $4.99 each, the 8″ inch letters $2.99 each
Metallic spray paint was used, but one thing I might do different is use a specific paint that gives a metal look and texture like Ferro metal effect that comes in copper, old gold, iron, amber gold, graphite, gold orange, gold green, gold iron, and blackberry.
Some couples spell out “LOVE”, “BAR”, their names or initials. Can be glued to a flat surface or hung.
